Anyone is welcome to submit to IDR. However, for publication to proceed at least 50% of authors listed on a manuscript must be members or affiliates of Individual Differences Association. Manuscripts for regular articles should be no more than 20 pages in length (including cover page, abstract, references, figures, tables, etc). Longer papers will be published as monograph supplements in regular issues. Email us (info@idr-journal.com) to inquire about special arrangements for monograph-length papers.

To submit a manuscript, include a cover letter (or email) signed by the corresponding author stating that the manuscript is not concurrently being reviewed by another journal, has not been published previously either wholly or partially, that the research has followed the ethical standards of the American Psychological Association, or another appropriate professional organization, and that it is understood that submission is a contract to publish with the journal if the paper is accepted. If these statements are not included, we will not review your manuscript.

Prior to submission, please read to ensure that your manuscript adheres to our formatting guidelines. Due to increased costs, manuscripts which do not follow our guidelines will be subject to special typesetting charges.

We encourage authors to have their papers reviewed or proofed by a colleague prior to submission. Individuals whose native language is not English should have their paper read and proofed by someone  fluent in English before submitting. Alternatively, authors can use a professional editing service such as SPi, a nonaffiliated service. Click here for SPi information and pricing.

The review process normally takes about 12 weeks, but may be longer depending on the volume of papers being considered at any given time. Accepted manuscripts are subject to editorial modification. A blind-review process is used for all submitted manuscripts.

Upon final acceptance, all materials must be submitted as a computer diskette file.
